The Oceania Football Confederation is joining World Football Giving Day on May 26, a global movement bringing together the football community around solidarity, generosity, and giving back.

Created by Common Goal, World Football Giving Day is a shared global moment where players, clubs, organisations, fans, brands and communities come together under the message that “Football Shows Its Heart.”

Launching in the lead-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup™, and building on the momentum of UN World Football Day, World Football Giving Day turns recognition into action through an annual global moment of giving.

The initiative, endorsed by UN Football for the Goals, follows UN World Football Day as a way to turn the values recognised by the United Nations — including solidarity, peace, inclusion and community wellbeing — into collective action across the global game.

For this first addition more than 160 organisations across 90+ countries are taking part, alongside athletes, clubs, partners and allies from across the football ecosystem.

Across Oceania, football is far more than a game — it is a powerful tool for connection, opportunity and social impact. Through programmes delivered across our Member Associations, the Oceania Football Confederation continues to use football to strengthen communities, empower young people, and create positive change both on and off the pitch.

World Football Giving Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the opportunities that football has given our clubs, players, fans, and people, and over this next two-week period, OFC will speak to those Pro League athletes who’s lives have been positively shaped by the sport.

The 2026 campaign will kick-off a legacy plan which will see OFC spotlight one Member Association per month, highlighting the people within our region who have had an impact on football in their communities.

As part of this global movement, OFC is proud to stand alongside the international football community in demonstrating how football can be a force for good. By working together and giving back, we can continue to create stronger communities and ensure the game has a meaningful impact throughout Oceania for generations to come.

“The act of giving is woven throughout our communities and cultures across Oceania and deeply connected to OFC’s values,” says Teeny Aiken.

“We’re grateful that our Oceania football community is made up of individuals who have given to the game in ways that unite, inspire, and impact those around them, and World Football Giving Day is an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate this as part of a global movement.”

“Through sharing stories from our region, we invite others to join us in acts of giving – whether it is time, knowledge, passion, voice, resources, or encouragement – that create lasting impact on and off the pitch.”

On May 26, the world of football comes together around a shared set of values — love over hate, inclusion over division and community over isolation — showing that when the game unites, it can create something far greater than itself.

The initiative will take place annually, positioning itself as a new fixture in the global football calendar.
