Young footballers around the Pacific have the chance to develop their skills by participating in the OFC’s Stars of Tomorrow social media campaign.

A series of videos will be posted on OFC’s social media platforms kicking off with an educational Skills Challenge every Tuesday in April on juggling, running with the ball, passing and shooting.

Children up to the age of 14 are encouraged to send in videos via Facebook or Instagram messenger to be featured in the next video series, which showcases participants from every Member Association (subject to entries).

An awards programme is also being rolled out across our Member Associations to help uncover our region’s most talented youngsters.

OFC Player Development Officer Phill Parker said the aim of the initiative was to continue the development of boys and girls under 14 while highlighting grassroots and youth football activities in the region.

“Kids under 14 are not affected by the absence of OFC competitions so it’s a great way for us to focus on their development,” Parker said.

“With some local competitions still active, the OFC Stars of Tomorrow campaign gives me another chance to assist our Member Associations.

“It’s supposed to be fun and inclusive, and hopefully by doing this we will also recruit more footballers.”
