Tahiti have ended their FIFA U-20 Men’s World Cup 2019 campaign with a 6-0 defeat to Colombia at Poland’s Lublin Stadium.

Colombia’s Juan Hernandez netted a hat-trick to propel his side to the victory which  secured Los Cafeteros‘ spot in the knockout stage of the tournament.

Luis Sinisterra opened the scoring in the eighth minute, heading home Jaime Alvarado’s corner kick at the near post.

Despite a spirited defensive effort from Tahiti following the opener, Colombia broke through to score three times in five minutes at the end of the first half.

Sinisterra completed his brace in the 37th minute, before Hernandez slotted home in the 38th and 42nd minutes.

Hernandez collected his hat-trick in the 70th minute, volleying in Ivan Angulo’s cross, before substitute Deiber Caicedo’s jinking individual effort three minutes from full time capped off a dominant performance for Los Cafeteros, who are through to the Round of 16 as second-place finishers in Group A.

Tahiti, meanwhile, have bowed out of the competition in the group stage.
