Experienced Galaxy FC striker Kensi Tangis believes his Port Vila-based club can join fellow Vanuatu outfit Malampa Revivors in the final eight of the Champions League 2020 competition.

Following the heroics of Group B winners Malampa In Luganville, Galaxy FC are also on track to finish on top of Group A and earn a second home quarterfinal for Vanuatu Football.

Going into Saturday’s final matchday at Port Moresby’s Sir John Guise Stadium, Galaxy are leading the group and a draw against hosts Hekari United would be enough for them to qualify for the next stage.

Veteran Vanuatu international Kensi Tangis, however has loftier ambitions.

“We’ve been in great form and the boys are focused and working hard to win our last match and secure a home quarterfinal in Vanuatu,” said the 30-year old striker.

Despite arriving in Papua New Guinea as underdogs, the tournament debutants have surprised most pundits by cruising past defending champions Hienghene Sport before drawing with New Zealand outfit Eastern Suburbs despite playing out the majority of the second half with ten men.

Tangis managed to contribute with a goal in both of those matches after coming off the bench, and he is hoping for more of the same against Hekari.

“I’m very happy happy to contribute with some goals.  I love playing for my team and with another very important game coming up I hope to score again and we win,” said the Vanuatu international.

Galaxy are fortunate to have the services of a number of quality finishers including Tangis as well as Terence Carter and Brazilian import Roberson Dos Santos Ribiero.

As another major boost,  dangerous playmaker Bong Kalo is set to return for his side’s crucial final outing after serving his two-match suspension, and Tangis can’t wait to link up with him.

“We are very that  Bong Kalo will be back for us in our final match and we hope he is going to be in good form tomorrow,” he added.

Galaxy FC will face hosts Hekari United in Saturday’s final match in Group A at 3pm (local time) at Port Moresby’s Sir John Guise Stadium.
