After a stunning domestic season in Tahiti, Teaonui Tehau continued his prolific scoring for AS Vénus at the Oceania Champions League this month.
Tehau netted a stunning 42 goals in Ligue 1 Vini this past season, in addition to scoring eight in the Coupe de Polynésie.
Among that total was an eight-goal haul in a 15-0 win over AS Mataiea.
The national team striker then backed it up at the Oceania Champions League with four goals.
But the humble Tehau, whose best ever domestic haul was 53 in a season, said there’s nothing special about what he does.
“There’s no secret, you just need to be in front of the goal and react well to the game,” Tehau said.
“I have always been a striker and this is the sixth time I have been the top scorer in Tahiti.
“I came to the Champions League with lots of confidence. I had played in a few Champions Leagues and also for the national team, so I felt good.”
