The Tonga Football Association (TFA) reached out to assist the needs of the local community as well as its football family who are affected by the current COVID-19 health crisis by distributing relief packages through the OFC Solidarity Fund.
The OFC Solidarity Fund has been developed in order to support staff, volunteers, players, coaches, referees and the wider football community across Oceania during the coronavirus pandemic.
The grant, which is part of the OFC FIFA Forward programme, has been designed to cover four key areas, including food and hygiene packets, loss of income, medical allowances and self-isolation costs.
With more than 200 people, including TFA President Lord Ve’ehala and guest and the Minister for Education and Training Hon. Siaosi Sovaleni present at Nuku’alofa’s Loto-Tonga Soccer Centre, 158 hygiene packs were gifted to schools, government offices and churches this week.
In addition, 245 food packs were handed out to TFA officials, volunteers, coaches and referees.
