National League board secretary Amitesh Pal says the league will now start with the week two matches which are already scheduled for the new year.
“Due to the cancellation of the first round of matches, at the moment we plan to start the national league on January 12 and play the week two matches,” he says.
“We have already planned out the fixtures for the season and to have accommodated the first round match next month would have affected the remainder of the schedule.
“Therefore the matches that were postponed will now be played sometime later in the season.”
The Pillay Garments Champions League was also affected by the cyclone, the second leg was due to be played on Sunday.
The Fiji FA is yet to announce a new date for this match.
