Representatives from provincial football associations are attending a one day extra-ordinary meeting at the SIFF Academy Alan Boso Complex conference room since this morning.

The conference was purposely held to look into the federation’s audited accounts report for 2005. It was supposed to have been held last year but had to be postponed because the report was not ready.

Final preparations for U-20 women

The Solomon Island National under 20 women’s team have at least two more weeks to brush up before they depart for Apia, Samoa for the 2006 OFC U-20 Women’s Championship.

SIFF named a tentative national Under-20 women’s squad that will represent the country in Samoa.

However, the number may be reduced as the tournament regulation has stated clearly that only 18 players will be registered. The tentative squad was named following months of intensive training which more than 30 girls had taken part in.

To ensure the girls had some practice matches, a pre-season competition was arranged for them and so far, the under 20 girls have won all their matches.

SIFF prepare inaugural Beach Soccer squad

Solomon Island Football Federation will soon call a team together for training in preparation for the Dubai Beach Soccer competition.

This followed confirmation from the OFC of Solomon Islands selection as one of the four country’s to represent the region in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from 24-26 May 2006.

The others are New Zealand, Vanuatu and Cook Islands.

The SIFF General Secretary, Eddie Ngava says Solomon Islands participation in this competition is compulsory and failure to comply will result in SIFF paying heavy fine.

In light of this Ngava says SIFF will send a team of 12 players and three officials to this competition.

Beach soccer was never played in the Solomons previously. Despite that, Ngava is confident those representing the country would not have much difficulty adjusting to the new code.
