The course was led by FIFA Instructor and OFC Head of Coach Education Didier Chambaron who said the objectives for participants are clear.
“The objective is to study the principle collective and individual actions at play during different moments of the game,” he explained.
“We need to put in place a genuine pathway starting with the basic game situations in order to achieve more complex situations that may be encountered in any football game. This understanding of the game must be methodical and progressive in the player’s training course.
“This should be the basis of the sports policy for youth football in New Caledonia.”
Coach and educator at AS Lito on Lifou, participant Jean-Marc Case said the course was an interesting one from his point-of-view.
“It’s been a good reminder of the content, what we need to do and what we need to teach our youth,” he said.
“What is showed is that perhaps there is a difference in the work being done in the South, the North and the Islands, but it also allowed us to work on a common outline of what we need to do with this age group to have a collective tactical and technical objective for the country.
“My role as an educator is to come here, learn what is needed and share it with the kids in the islands and that’s an enriching experience.”
