The side will play six friendly matches against teams in Spain, including encounters against well-known clubs Villarreal CF and Valencia CF.
Coach Frank Farina’s group contains a number of experienced Fiji-based players who will be among those competing for the three overage spots in the squad for Rio.
Olympic rules state that while the tournament is for U-23 sides, teams can include up to three overage players as part of their final squad.
“I will be taking some of the senior players with the U-23 side on the tour, but we haven’t yet decided which three we will take to Rio,” Farina says.
“This will give opportunities to the senior players to show what they can do and if they fit into the team, and that’s what I will be looking at.
“I have seen some of them and it’s a learning thing for me to get to know them.
“We have left the door open for some players and we will keep our eyes open for them.
“If needed we will get them for the trials, as we have ample time before the Olympics.”
The squad entered camp in Fiji this week and will remain there until 20 December. The second phase of the camp will begin on 4 January.
Fixtures and kick-off times for the Spain tour will be confirmed at a later date.
