The B Licence is the highest coaching qualification offered by the Oceania Football Confederation at present, with ten candidates successfully completing the first cycle held over 2012/13.
This time around participants from Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and Samoa have gathered at Fiji FA Academy in Suva where they will spend 16 days under the tutelage of instructors Didier Chambaron, OFC Head of Education, and OFC Consultant Giovani Fernandes.
The OFC B Licence is an advanced course designed to introduce concepts that are targeted towards coaching players aged 17 years old to senior. It builds upon the content delivered in the OFC C and D Licences and provides further knowledge on how to plan, deliver and evaluate practical sessions.
The sessions will take into account age, ability and experience of the players and the identified learning objectives with candidates expected to build on their existing coaching knowledge.
Overall the course is expected to further develop participants’ knowledge of the principles of the game and the development of specialist individual roles within the team. Candidates will get a better understanding of the responsibilities associated with coaching at advanced levels.
The 16 days of learning will be filled with practical and theory workshops, with candidates conducting three observed coaching sessions over the two weeks, with feedback provided from fellow participants and instructors.
Following the course, the coaches will be required to fill in a logbook documenting their team-related assignments before they complete their final practical session and interview with their assessor.
The 2014 B Licence got underway on Monday 1 December and will continue through until Tuesday 16 December in Suva, Fiji.
