As a result of the partnership, SamoaTel will receive exclusive naming rights to the competition, the SamoaTel National League 2010/11.
The company’s business and consumer general manager Veletaloola Vaa Ofoia is delighted to have signed the deal and feels hopeful about the nation’s footballing prospects.
“Our young Samoan people have huge potential when it comes to playing football,” he says.
“We hope this sponsorship will provide them with the opportunity to develop into excellent players.”
FFS CEO Fred Young is just as thrilled with the agreement.
“We are very fortunate and grateful that SamoaTel have agreed to come on board,” Young says.
“The support means a great deal, not only to us here at FFS, but to the Samoan football community at large.
“When SamoaTel says ‘Family First and Samoa First’ they mean it and we believe this partnership will build a permanent foundation upon which football and the community can stand firm and flourish.”
The SamoaTel National League kicked off in September and is scheduled to run through until May 2011. A total of 46 teams are competing in five categories: the men’s premier league, women’s premier league, men’s first division, men’s second division and boy’s U-15.
“The SamoaTel National League is an opportunity for our coaches to identify players who will be selected to represent Samoa at international tournaments such as next year’s South Pacific Games,” Young says.
“This is an exciting time for everyone involved in football right now.”
