OFC is committed to bringing about an increase in football exposure across its member associations and has delivered training programmes and equipment to many of these countries to help this vision become a reality.
Head of OFC TV Olivier Huc and director Tia Soakai spent time at the Fiji Football Association this month working with media officer Moiz Munif and that groundwork will soon come to fruition in the form of FijiFoot, a show that will be screened by the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC).
“Our aim is to develop, enhance and broaden the capacity of our media officers by equipping them with production skills,” Huc says.
“This then enables them to produce quality content for multi-platform delivery, such as television and interactive technologies.”
FBC chief executive officer Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is right behind the project and says it has arrived at an ideal time in the life of Fiji’s national broadcaster.
“I am certainly impressed with the production quality of FijiFoot and will work closely with the Fiji FA to showcase football and its community messages across the country as we prepare to celebrate our first anniversary as broadcasters in November.”
FijiFoot is based on the same model already used in other parts of the Pacific, such as FenuaFoot in Tahiti, VanuaFoot in Vanuatu and TonFoot in Tonga.
France-born Huc has more than 10 years experience working with the Tahiti Nui Television Network and was placed in charge of OFC TV upon its formation last year.
He created FenuaFoot in Tahiti and ran the magazine-style show for a decade before going on to help replicate the format across Oceania on behalf of OFC.
The holding of training courses in the member associations is now a regular occurence with the various media officers learning how to film, produce and edit footage on software provided by OFC.
These media officers have become a key part of the OFC TV team, working diligently to cover OFC events, including online streaming and live broadcasts across the region.
