The 27-year-old from Savusavu will be Fiji’s lone representative at the event which will be held at Auckland’s North Harbour Stadium from 21-25 January and involves American Samoa, Cook Islands, New Zealand and Tonga.
Vulivuli, who has experience officiating at elite tournaments such as the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and Algarve Cup, says she is hoping for another strong showing.
“I’m looking forward to the championship and it should be ok. I will take one match at a time and see how it progresses for me,” she said.
Vulivuli has enjoyed many successes in recent years including the Fiji Football Association (FFA) “Referee of the Year” award in 2008. FFA referees director Chandra Segran says she has worked tirelessly and deserves the recognition.
“She has gained a lot of exposure and now the next step we want for her is to become a women’s referee instructor so that she can train and develop other women,” Segran said.
“The OFC U-20 Women’s Championship is a good chance for her to gain even more experience.”
Segran says the FFA have big plans for her and he is confident she will continue to be successful.
Vulivuli left for New Zealand earlier this week to take part in a FIFA-run referee’s instructor course.
