Here’s how today’s action played out:

Manchester City v Wydad AC
Today’s matches kicked off in Philadelphia, as Manchester City began their Club World Cup campaign with a confident 2-0 win over Wydad AC, thanks to early goals from Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku. Despite a rotated lineup and scorching conditions, City controlled the match, although Rico Lewis’s late red card means he’ll miss their next game against Al Ain.

Real Madrid v Al Hilal
The action continued as Spanish giants Real Madrid were held to a 1–1 draw by Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal. Gonzalo García opened the scoring in the 34th minute netting a goal through a low cross. Al Hilal responded six minutes later through a Rúben Neves penalty before the break. Madrid missed a golden chance to win in stoppage time when Federico Valverde’s penalty was saved, leaving them to regroup ahead of their clash with Pachuca.

CF Pachuca v FC Salzburg
FC Salzburg edged CF Pachuca 2–1 in a thrilling Group H clash. Oscar Gloukh scored a spectacular opener, while teenage debutant goalkeeper Christian Zawieschitzky delivered a series of heroic saves. A lengthy thunderstorm delay disrupted the match shortly after half-time, but Pachuca equalised within minutes of the restart via a Bryan González free kick. Salzburg sealed the victory with a late header from Karim Onisiwo. Salzburg now prepare to meet Al Hilal, while Pachuca head to Charlotte to take on Real Madrid.

Al Ain FC v Juventus FC
Rounding out today’s action was a statement win by Juventus FC, who defeated Al Ain 5–0 in Washington. The Italian giants put the game away early, scoring four goals in the first half—including two from Randal Kolo Muani. Portuguese winger Francisco Conceição was equally impressive, dribbling past defenders to score twice himself. Both teams return to action on Sunday, 22nd June: Al Ain will meet Manchester City, while Juventus face Wydad.
