Italy’s Inter Milan and Germany’s Borussia Dortmund clinched top spots in their groups, while Mexico’s Monterrey ended group play on a high with a 4-0 win over Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds – sending them through to the round of 16.

Dortmund controlled possession early and found the breakthrough in the 36th minute when Jude Bellingham slid a perfect pass into the box for Daniel Svensson, who calmly slotted it past Ulsan keeper Jo Hyeon-woo. Despite some late pressure from the Korean side and excellent goalkeeping from Jo, Dortmund held firm to secure top spot in Group F and will face Monterrey in the round of 16.

Both sides created chances in a cagey encounter, but neither could break the deadlock. Sundowns started brightly, with Themba Zwane nearly scoring early, but Fluminense’s defence remained compact. The Brazilian side did just enough to earn the crucial point needed to progress to the knockout stage and will face Inter Milan in the round of 16.

Inter Milan vs CA River Plate
Inter Milan sealed top spot in Group E with a hard-fought 2–0 win over Argentina’s River Plate in Seattle. After a tight first half, Francesco Esposito broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute with a powerful header from a corner. Alessandro Bastoni added a second deep into stoppage time to cap off a composed display. Inter will face Fluminense in the round of 16, while River Plate will be heading home.

Monterrey booked their place in the round of 16 after a commanding 4–0 win over Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds at the Rose Bowl. The Liga MX side struck three times in a stunning eight-minute spell. Nelson Deossa opened the scoring in the 30th minute, followed by goals from Germán Berterame and Jesús Corona. Monterrey will face Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16.
