FIFA continued its mission to modernise referee development with a five-day instructors’ course held in early May for Member Association (MA) leaders across the Oceania region. Led by renowned FIFA instructor Lim Kee Chong, the course brought together 20 participants to sharpen their teaching skills both in the classroom and on the pitch.
Building on last year’s push for modern refereeing, the programme emphasises a forward-thinking philosophy. The course focused on practical teaching strategies, proactive decision making, and real-time scenario-based training to prevent mistakes before they happen.
The goal? Equip instructors to develop referees as cohesive teams, each supported by physical and technical coaches to ensure the best decisions are made when they matter most.
