OFC Futsal Men’s Champions League 2025

The third edition of the OFC Futsal Men’s Champions League was held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva and contested between six clubs. All six clubs played each other in a round-robin phase, with the top two reaching the final. Host club Suva FC were joined by defending champions AS PTT of New Caledonia, 2024 runners-up Mataks FC from the Solomon Islands, Waikato Rapids from New Zealand, Southern Legions FC from Vanuatu, and the first-ever representative from Papua New Guinea, Gulf Komara FC.

Defending champions AS PTT laid down a statement on the opening day of round-robin play, thumping Mataks FC 6-1 in a replay of the 2024 final. That was as good as it got for the New Caledonian side though, who stumbled to draws with Southern Legions and Suva, before suffering a 2-5 defeat to the Rapids, just their second ever defeat across three editions of the OFC Futsal Men’s Champions League. An 8-1 win over Gulf Komara proved in vain, as they missed the final for the first time ever.

Tournament debutants Waikato Rapids asserted their dominance, becoming the first club in competition history to win all their round-robin games. The New Zealand representatives won five-straight, scoring 29 goals and conceding just eight, to wrap up top spot in the standings and make themselves favourites for the final.

Runners-up in 2024, Mataks FC lost their first two round-robin games, and already looked out of contention for another trip to the final in 2025. Incredibly, they pulled off a stunning resurgence to win their next three matches. Victories over Gulf Komara and Suva set up a winner takes all match with Southern Legions for a place in the big dance on the final matchday of round-robin. Calvin Do’oro scored twice to set up a thrilling 8-5 win over their Melanesian rivals and continue the Solomon Islands representation in all three tournament finals.

Hosts Suva denied tournament debutants Gulf Komara their first win, claiming fifth with a dramatic 4-3 victory. Making up for their absence in the final, AS PTT finished third with a 7-2 thumping of Southern Legions FC.

In one of the more dramatic futsal finals ever seen in OFC competition, Mataks FC completed the fairytale comeback to lift the OFC Futsal Men’s Champions League 2025 title with an 8-7 win on penalties over the Waikato Rapids following a 4-4 draw after extra-time. Two goals each from Benjamin Bodin and Maxwell Ericksen, cancelled out two from Calvin Do’oro and his Mataks FC teammates following extra-time and 50 minutes of futsal. It then took 18 spot kicks for Mataks to hold their nerve and win the shoot-out, becoming the second Solomon Islands club to lift the title after Kooline in 2019.

Ellis Mana received the Golden Boot award with nine goals across the tournament, whilst his teammate Owen Bunabo received the Golden Ball award for the best player of the tournament. Corbin Fell was given the Golden Glove award for the best goalkeeper of the tournament, and Charles Kinole received the Atta Elayyan Award. AS PTT were the recipients of the Fair Play Award.
