The final day of Round of 16 action at the FIFA Club World Cup brought fewer surprises but no less quality, as Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund claimed composed victories to seal their spots in the quarterfinals.

Real Madrid v Juventus:
Real Madrid advanced to the quarterfinals with a 1–0 win over Juventus, thanks to Gonzalo Garcia’s third goal of the tournament. The Spanish side dominated throughout, though Juventus keeper Michele Di Gregorio made a string of outstanding saves to keep the scoreline close.
Real had early chances through Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde, but Di Gregorio’s heroics delayed the breakthrough until Garcia nodded in Alexander-Arnold’s cross after the break. Kylian Mbappé made his tournament debut late on, as Madrid comfortably saw out the win.

Borussia Dortmund v CF Monterrey
Borussia Dortmund secured their spot in the Club World Cup quarterfinals with a 2-1 victory over Monterrey. Serhou Guirassy was the hero for the Bundesliga side, scoring both goals in the first half with composed finishes. Monterrey responded immediately after the break through a header from Germán Berterame, but couldn’t manage to draw level.
Sergio Ramos came close to equalising late on with a header that narrowly missed the top corner, but Dortmund held firm to claim the win. They will now face Real Madrid in Saturday’s quarter final.
