Safeguarding in Football

Safeguarding is a fundamental concept aimed at ensuring the safety, dignity, and rights of all individuals involved in football, especially children, young people, and vulnerable adults.

“Anyone who chooses football, or indeed any sport, is entitled to play and enjoy it in a safe and secure environment that supports her or his wellbeing.”  – Gianni Infantino, FIFA President

Our Commitment

The Oceania football community is made up of people of diverse ages, genders, nationalities, abilities, and backgrounds. OFC has made a commitment to ensure football leaves no one behind and 100% of participants feel safe in football. This means that every individual, no matter their level of involvement, experience physical and emotional safety, respect, and dignity.

At OFC, safeguarding is central to achieving this goal. Safeguarding is a preventative approach to protect individuals, especially children and vulnerable adults, by minimising risks of harm. Safeguarding also includes efficient and effective response to identified risks and reported harm.
