Our Commitment
The Oceania football community is made up of people of diverse ages, genders, nationalities, abilities, and backgrounds. OFC has made a commitment to ensure football leaves no one behind and 100% of participants feel safe in football. This means that every individual, no matter their level of involvement, experience physical and emotional safety, respect, and dignity.
At OFC, safeguarding is central to achieving this goal. Safeguarding is a preventative approach to protect individuals, especially children and vulnerable adults, by minimising risks of harm. Safeguarding also includes efficient and effective response to identified risks and reported harm.
Everyone can play a part to build safe football environments for all. OFC’s safeguarding practices include but are not limited to:
- Vetting process
- Staff education via FIFA Guardians Safeguarding in Football
- Confidential reporting system
- Regional Safeguarding Training of Trainers
- Member Association Safeguarding Activity Grants
- Regional Safeguarding Working Group
- OFC Competitions Team Orientations
