We’re currently looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to support the delivery of OFC’s commercial partnerships and help grow the profile and reach of football across Oceania.

About The Role

This role will ensure that the day-to-day accounting records are kept up to date on the accounting system (Including journals, posting and entries) and comply with the financial policies and procedures, while also supporting the organization to manage increased activity from new initiatives such as the OFC Pro League. Supporting the execution of our commercial activities across our activities and programmes, including the Professional League and other competitions.

  • Assist in identifying opportunities for improving financial processes and service delivery to various stakeholders
  • Assist overall finance team in providing support to all departments to help them to develop departmental financial reporting
  • Demonstrate the ability to oversee the activities of the different functions within the organisation to ensure they meet required standards
  • Delivery of financial operations (including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, GL reconciliations and statutory tax return in line with Finance team’s overall strategies and operational plan.
  • Assist in the other functions of finance in the absence of other members in the team.
  • Support the organization in optimizing our financial transactions and systems, including managing increased transaction volumes from new competitions such as the OFC Pro League.
  • Ensure financial accounting policies, practices, systems, and procedures meet organizational needs
  • Contributes towards completing month end and year end accounting services in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial reporting that meets the organization’s requirements and funders framework
  • Assist the finance team with audit preparation and requirement needs.
  • Represent OFC in a credible, professional and appropriate manner.
  • Demonstrate commitment to fostering engagement at all levels of the organisation and within Finance
  • Maintains strong internal and external networks in order to keep them informed and share knowledge
  • In collaboration with Head of Finance and Services, Finance Manager and other members of the Finance team, identify and recommend reducing financial exposure and risks

About You

Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment. You’ll thrive in this role if you have:

  • Tertiary qualification at a Bachelor level in accounting or similar field.
  • CA or equivalent or working towards CA (but not essential)
  • 3+ years’ experience in account payable / accounts receivable or similar field
  • Strong financial literacy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate financial technicalities to diverse audience
  • Microsoft Office suite at an intermediate level (Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP’s)
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • A professional, team-oriented approach and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility to travel and willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends.
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand, ability to satisfy Ministry of Justice criminal checks.

Additional language skills beyond English would be an advantage.
