We are seeking a commercially astute, strategically minded and hands-on Media & Communications Manager to play a pivotal role within our Commercial & Communications team, driving high-impact storytelling and elevating the profile of football across Oceania.

About The Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Communications, this is a hands-on, execution-focused role responsible for delivering day-to-day media and communications activities across the organisation. You will lead a small team of Media Officers and play a critical role in producing compelling content, managing media engagement, supporting tournaments and events, and maintaining high-quality digital platforms.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned sports media professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about storytelling, football, and the Pacific region.

Content Production & Digital Channels

  • Research, write and edit engaging stories across tournaments, programmes and Member Association activities
  • Produce and publish content across digital platforms including website and social media
  • Maintain and manage digital assets and media libraries
  • Ensure all content meets quality, brand and tone standards
  • Contribute to internal publications and organisational reporting

Media Operations & Event Delivery

  • Deliver communications plans for tournaments, events and initiatives
  • Provide hands-on match-day and event media support as required
  • Prepare and distribute media releases, advisories and information packs
  • Manage day-to-day media enquiries and support senior management with engagement
  • Coordinate media logistics including accreditation, equipment and service providers

Stakeholder & Member Association Support

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regional and international media
  • Support Member Association Media Officers with guidance and practical assistance
  • Foster collaborative relationships across internal departments and external partners
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual reporting requirements

Compliance & Professional Standards

  • Ensure all activities align with organisational policies and values
  • Maintain best practice standards in media and communications delivery
  • Travel to tournaments and events as required
  • Always uphold health and safety obligations and professional integrity

About You

You are a confident and collaborative communications professional with strong storytelling ability and a deep understanding of the sports media landscape.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in sports journalism, news gathering, or agency/media content production
  • Proven experience delivering high-quality publications and digital content
  • Strong writing, editing and storytelling capability
  • Excellent understanding of media channels including digital, social, broadcast and print
  • Experience working in high-pressure environments with tight deadlines
  • Strong project management skills and ability to multitask
  • Confidence building relationships and influencing stakeholders
  • Passion for football and community impact
  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand
  • Be willing to complete a Ministry of Justice criminal check

Desirable:

  • Degree in Media, Communications or related discipline
  • Basic video editing skills (Adobe Premiere Pro, Cap Cut)
  • Graphic design capability (Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva)
