The workshop was facilitated by PNGFA Technical Director Taku Niebo and it is the sixth workshop in Port Moresby.
The workshop covering both theory and practical activities on how to develop game skills and lead healthier lives. As part of the training participant were also trained to be coaches in strategies and method in delivering quality sports and educating through sports.
At the end of the workshop participants were presented with certificates and equipment bags containing balls, markers, pump, cones and whistle. After this workshop the teachers will go back to their respective schools to implement the program for six weeks before coming together for a festival.
Just Play is a sport for development program developed by Oceania Football Confederation. Just Play program has been implemented across the Pacific since 2009 in partnership with Australian government, UEFA and Football Federation Australia.
This exciting sport for development program uses football to promote physical activities and gender equity for primary aged children while encouraging community involvement and healthy living. The program is designed for boys and girls aged 6-12 and is based around structured fun activity programs that enables children to play football at any time and in any situation.
Niebo says they are now looking at extending the program to other parts of the country that they have not gone to in provinces like Mt Hagen, Wabag, Southern Highlands and the none affiliated provinces to PNGFA.
Michael Koaba a teacher in Noblet Elementary/Primary School says from the spiritual, moral, physical and integral development of the children the program is very helpful to children as they grow older to be mentally fixed and live a healthy lifestyle.
