The Solomon Islands National Club Championship has reached its climax with the final between Koloale FC and Marist expected to draw thousands of fans at Honiara’s Lawson Tama Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

Defending champions Koloale handed Marist a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat yesterday to reach the final and will go into tomorrow’s match as the favourites to win the title and earn a spot at the 2010 O-League.

But Marist will be no walkover having shown strong performances throughout the tournament. The Honiara-based club held their nerve against Uncles in the other semi-final yesterday winning 4-3 on penalties after the match had finished 1-1.

Marist will be hoping to emulate their form in 2005 and 2006 when they represented the Solomon Islands in Oceania Football Confederation’s Club Championships (now the O-League).

Uncles had been tipped to make it through to the final but Waitakere United striker Benjamin Totori couldn’t lead his side to victory.  They will now play Makuru tomorrow in the third and fourth playoff.
