The move comes despite the side not playing any internationals since the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March yet the side were easily the biggest movers in the May rankings.
The All Whites, who were ranked 130th in May last year, were the benefactors of other nations sliding back down the table, moving up from 87th where they now sit between Slovakia and Uzbekistan.
Not only do they sit ten spots behind their trans-tasman rivals, but the All Whites are also ten places off their best ever ranking in 2002. Their next major match will be against the fourth-placed CONCACAF side in November in the inter-continental playoff to qualify for the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014.
The six sides currently duelling it out for the CONCACAF berths are Mexico, 17, USA, 28, Panama, 43, Costa Rica, 48, Jamaica, 52, and Honduras, 52.
Tahiti, who qualified for this month’s FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil after winning the OFC Nations Cup ahead of New Zealand and New Caledonia last year have dropped three places to a current ranking of 138.
In Brazil Tahiti will encounter the world’s top ranked side Spain, 19th ranked Uruguay and Nigeria who sit 31st in the world.
New Caledonia are Oceania’s second highest ranked side moving up seven spots to 138. The only other Oceania side to make a positive move is Tonga, who advances one spot to 190.
