Midfielder Alex Feneridis opened the scoring in the 26th minute in spectacular fashion when he volleyed home a partically-cleared David Mulligan cross from the edge of the box but there was no further scoring for the rest of the half as the teams fought it out to take control of the game.
Amicale put in plenty of effort during the second half but struggled to create many clear-cut chances and had to wave goodbye to their FIFA Club World Cup dream as Auckland scored a further three times. Daniel Koprivcic added City’s second of the day from the spot in the 62nd minute before Manel Exposito and Adam McGeorge added more goals in the 72nd and 82nd minutes.
