PORT VILA -Tupuji Imere will try to put its poor start to the season behind it with a victory over Seveners United in the Port Vila Premier League at Port Vila Municipal Stadium tonight. Tupuji – who lost the PVFA TVL Premier League title by the narrowest of margins in the final game of last season – has failed to live up to last season’s achievements with two losses out of five matches already this time around.
Tupuji sit in seventh place and another defeat would almost certainly spell the end of any title aspirations. Seveners United are also languishing in mid-table but the mood in the camp is more optimistic despite last week’s loss to Yatel FC. Seveners have tested all of their opponents without gaining the necessary luck to put points on the board.
Sheer obstinacy and mental strength could be enough to seperate the two teams and Seveners appear to have an abundance of both qualities. Tupuji will be looking for any type of inspiration it can get to effect a turn around in form.
John Laan remains their focus in attack although key midfielder John Johnson will be missing from this match after receiving a suspension. A year ago this fixture would have been a no-contest but with Tupuji seemingly out of luck and struggling for form, Seveners United will go into tonight’s match expecting to come out of it with a positive result.
Veteran Tupuji goalkeeper, David Chilia, will have to be in top form to halt his team’s slump.
