A second loss in the competition, after the 7-0 against Venezuela, has ended Papua New Guinea’s chances to compete for a medal.

Slovakia continued to dominate after the restart but Papua New Guinea goalkeeper Eileen Daviaga stood out with several saves. But Surnovaska and Jancova completed the scoring to give Slovakia a place in the semi-finals.
The Oceania representatives have a last game to play against African side Namibia to finish in the top five of the Girls football tournament.
The Kurakums were in the same situation four years ago for the first edition of the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.
The game for fifth place saw them taking on Trinidad and Tobago. The Oceanian representatives finished with a solid performance to end the game 0-0 but their opponents took the advantage during the penalty-shoot-out to finally win 4-2.
This result is Slovakia’s first ever win at a FIFA women’s tournament.
