Amical FC consolidate its second place by defeating Yatel FC 2-0
Amical FC currently occupying second place in the PVFA Premier Division continued its remarkable run and pressure on Tafea FC, with a 2-0 victory over Yatel FC at the Port-Vila Stadium on Saturday 16 October 2008.
Two first half goals put the tie out of reach for Yatel FC. Amical FC got off to a perfect start four minutes into the first half when Eric Ishmael slotted home his first goal. The ex-Sheperds United man seized onto Jerry Shem’s cross and placed the ball under Vanuatu International Goalkeeper John Presley Tari. Sewlyn Tari doubled the advantage on 39 minutes.
With the win Amical FC has also increased the margin between the two teams in the League table with Yatel FC slipping back to fourth position.
Tupuji Imere FC battled back in the TVL Premier League
Tupuji Imere FC battled back in the TVL Premier League to pick up three valuable points in an entertaining Southern Efate Derby against Erakor Golden Star FC.
The only goal of the match at the Port-Vila stadium was scored by Fenethy Masauvakalo in the 33rd minute of the game.
After the opener, in what was described as the entertaining game of the day, both teams continued to produce chances which did not materialize.
Hubert Reuben of Erakor FC was denied an equalizer in the last minutes of the game when his powerful shot bounced back from the right post and gave a wake up call to David Chilia.
Finally Tupuji Imere FC preserved their slender advantage to record six points after their two last games, and moved them up to third spot in the TVL Premier League ladder. Erakor GS FC has dropped down to fifth position.
Tafea FC still top after humbling troubled Westtan Broncos
Tafea FC took another step towards retaining their Premier League title with a 3-0 win over struggling Westtan Broncos.
In-form Vanuatu and Tafea FC forward Francois Sakama sealed the victory with two superb goals.
Sakama fired the champions ahead in the 10th minute when he slotted the ball inside the net after a run through the Westtan defenders.
Despite the perfect start, Graham Demas’s side struggled to increase the lead, and a lot of credit for that can be taken by the Westtan Broncos goalkeeper, who kept the score down with some fantastic saves.
He was however beaten again in the 85th minute when Francois Sakama doubled the score.
In injury time, Fernandez Terong collected the ball after a good move from Alphonse Qorig and struck a low shot to add another goal to wrap up the three points and secure another win for Tafea FC.
Westtan Broncos who conceded their third consecutive loss are now down to the second last place at the bottom of the TVL Premier League table.
