Head of OFC TV, Tukaha Mua, took the decision after consultation with OFC General Secretary Tai Nicholas.
“The performance of our live streaming service is suspended following a number of technical difficulties we’ve experienced piping out the content at our respective match venues.
“Our approach to covering these games will see us film each match in full and make it available for fans to view them delayed on the official OFC YouTube channel later the same day,” Mua says.
OFC’s broadcast coverage of the OFC Champions League group stage tournament remains a complete success with a viewership of over 3 million enjoying the competition in five different countries including Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Tahiti and New Caledonia.
The OFC Radio broadcast has also been hailed a success with 38,000 listeners taking live coverage with one radio partner alone, a first for the OFC.
“We apologise to everyone inconvenienced by the stop-start nature of the live stream but must emphasise that our television broadcast partners have taken full coverage of every match without any issue whatsoever.
“As ever, internet technology in the Oceania region can be difficult and we hope fans stick with us as we get to the business end of the tournament,” Mua says.
Match Day Five gets underway at Churchill Park in Lautoka tomorrow when Auckland City FC take on AS Dragon at 1pm and Amicale FC face co-host club Nadi.
