Vanuatu Football Federation President Lambert Maltock expressed his delight at hosting the historic programme.
“We are indeed proud and happy to host this important regional course which gathers together for the first time in Vanuatu all football technicians and experts across the region.
“We are here to share experiences and assess ways on how we can collectively support and assist all member associations in Oceania to become stronger, more competitive and achieve success at the highest level.
“The potential for our football players to succeed at the highest level and to bring their respective countries to the top level of football is significant.
“But the key to unlock such potential success is firstly to set the correct road map which is human resource capacity.
“Without the correct path way and proper knowledge and ability to deliver, we cannot expect to unlock our dreams.
“We started the Academy in 2008 but we don’t have the proper path way and resources so this week is an important week for us.”
“Today I am happy to see that FIFA and OFC have taken serious steps to assist in providing a remedy on our respective situations,” Maltock says.
FIFA Player Development Instructor, Hanzreudi Hasler, echoed Maltock’s sentiments.
“I am here to share with you experiences and results but then it is your job to go back home and analyse your situation and go forward your way.
“You don’t have to copy; there will not be a generic OFC way. I never went to Spain to copy Switzerland. But I am sure we will share together ideas to help football in Oceania grow bigger and bigger,” he says.
OFC’s Didier Chambaron, in Vanuatu to oversee the seminar, says a strategic approach with constant evaluation is vital to ensure the seminar’s successful long term impact.
“We are here to share and we believe in team work. We want your support; our purpose is to help you find best ways.
“We need a strategic plan with timelines, names and every year we will evaluate. We want to make sure we give more opportunities to the players. This week we will focus on how to develop players, share ideas and put up actions but not to lecture.”
The seminar concludes on Friday 7 March.
