Four of OFC’s 11 Member Associations – hosts Tonga, American Samoa, Cook Islands and Samoa – will take part in the tournament which offers the winner a spot in Stage 2 of Oceania’s 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Qualifiers, the OFC Nations Cup.
Media interested in attending the tournament are invited to fill out the attached application form and return to OFC Head of Media and Communications Jacqueline Tran Van no later than 5pm on Friday 21 August.

2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Qualifiers – Oceania Zone
The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Qualifiers for Oceania get underway with Stage 1 on 31 August with the winner progressing to Stage 2 – the OFC Nations Cup – where they will join the seven remaining Oceania Football Confederation Member Associations.
The eight teams have been drawn into two round-robin groups of four teams each, which will compete for the OFC Nations Cup, a one-off tournament in a yet-to-be-determined location, in 2016.
Group A features Tahiti, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea and the Stage 1 Winner. Group B is consists of New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Fiji and Vanuatu.
The winner of the OFC Nations Cup will qualify for the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2017, while the top three teams in each group will progress to 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Qualifiers – OFC Stage 3.
For Stage 3, the teams will be placed into two groups of three which compete in a round-robin, home-and-away competition. The winners of each group will advance to a single home-and-away series.
The regional winner earns the right to face the fifth-placed CONMEBOL side in the Intercontinental Play-off in November 2017, which for one of the two sides will equal a berth at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™
