The visit coincides with Oceania Football Confederation plans to enhance its profile in Pacific sport with a ‘Home of Football’.
The base for football activities is to be located at Ngahue Reserve in St John, Auckland where it will also join Auckland Netball and Tennis Auckland in creating a sporting hub in the area.
Valcke’s whirlwind two-day visit features a jam-packed schedule which also includes the FIFA/OFC Development Seminar.
Also in attendance will be the majority of OFC’s Member Association Presidents, CEOs and Technical Directors who will be joined by the FIFA General Secretary for a series of meetings.
Throughout the three-day seminar FIFA staff, including Director of Member Associations and Development Thierry Regenass, will discuss in detail a number of programmes and processes which are expected to bring new and exciting opportunities to all OFC MAs.
The ground-breaking ceremony will get underway on Sunday 15th September at 9am sharp with a Powhiri welcoming the distinguished guests followed by karakia to bless the land and the turning of the sod. The official ceremony is expected to conclude before 11am.
Media are welcome to attend the event but please be advised due to the tight schedule there will be no press conference or opportunities for interviews with the FIFA General Secretary.
Audio, video and online content detailing the visit will be made available through all OFC media platforms.
