Many of the objectives and goals of the current plan, which is now nearing the end of its four-year cycle, have already been met and the words ‘establish’ and ‘create’ that were used in that outline have now been replaced with ‘maintain’ and ‘improve’.
“We are happy with our association’s upgraded plan for the next four years,” FFAS president Iuli Alex Godinet says.
“Some of what we achieved over the last four years will be maintained and improved upon. As an overall assessment, we are happy with our progress and achievements of the old plan and look forward to tackling the new one.”
The talks surrounding the creation of the new development plan were overseen by several OFC representatives – FIFA development officer for Oceania Glenn Turner, Win in Oceania project manager Vairani Davio and deputy general secretary Greg Larsen – who all agreed that FFAS was moving ahead in a positive direction.
Also taking part in the meetings were president Godinet, members of the FFAS executive committee and secretariat, and club presidents.
The revamped development plan will now be signed off by the president and executive committee, before being presented to the federation’s congress in February for final approval.
“I know that all the targets and objectives mean our association will be very busy for another four years,” FFAS CEO Tavita Taumua says.
“This will particularly be the case on the development side of our sport, that will be one of our busiest departments.”
