Nicholls plays his club football with Magenta in New Caledonia, where he attends high school at Lycee Jules Garnier.
However since rejoining his fellow countrymen in the build-up to the championship, currently winding down in Fiji, he has become interested in following his career home to club football in Vanuatu.
“I’m happy working with the U-20 team. The coach Moise Poida and the team management have been very good to me,” Nicholls says.
“Moise has been helping me a lot during my time in Vanuatu and here in Fiji and I have learnt a lot from him, the management and my team-mates. I have been happy with my performance here and I hope I will get the opportunity to play for the Vanuatu U-23 team in the next few years.
“To be honest, I have really enjoyed playing for my country this week and my thoughts are going towards playing in Vanuatu with Tafea at the end of this competition.”
During preparations for the tournament, Nicholls made several successful appearances for Tafea in the local Port Vila Shield competition.
Nicholls is expected to again take on the role of playmaker on Friday when Vanuatu round out their OFC U-20 Championship campaign with a match against New Caledonia at Govind Park in Ba.
