The squad has been in training for the past couple of months in Port Moresby and Lae respectively and are touring Australia this month to play five friendly matches before they return to Port Moresby.
On arrival in Australia, they will play a series of friendly matches which coach Frank Farina will use to select the final squad. The lead-up matches will run until June 16, taking place around Queensland against various local clubs. They will return to Port Moresby on June 17 when the team will go into their last in-camp training for one week.
The final squad names will be finalised during the camp and submitted to the South Pacific Games Committee through the PNG Sports Federation by July 27 while the team goes on break, preparing again to depart for New Caledonia. Unfortunately Jamaal Seeto will not be travelling with the team due to school commitments but will join them later in the week.
Farina believes the squad can achieve the objectives that have been set if the players dedicate, discipline and commit themselves.
