The final and game for third place will be held on September 28.
In results from last Saturday, women’s FFAS National Cup holders Black Roses retained their hardware in a nil-all draw against league-leading Utulei Youth during their Round 8 match.
In Round 7 games it was PanSa 3, Atu’u Broncos 0; Kiwi Soccers 6, Ilaoa & To’omata 0; Tafuna Jets 4, Lion Heart 0 and Utulei 4, Green Bay 0. In Round 8 it was Black Roses 0, Utulei Youth 0; Green Bay 1, Ilaoa & To’omata 1; Jets 4, PanSa 0 and Kiwi 6, Atu’u 1.
If the playoffs were to be held today, the top four teams going to the playoffs would be No. 1 Utulei Youth (7-1-0, 22 points), No. 2 Black Roses (6-2-0, 20 points), No. 3 Kiwi (5-2-1, 17 points) and No. 4 Ilaoa & To’omata (4-2-2, 14 points).
The fourth and final playoff spot is up for grabs as two other teams have a shot at it — No. 5 Tafuna Jets (4-1-3, 13 points) and Green Bay (3-2-3, 11 points).
The rest of the standings are No. 7 PanSa (2-1-5, 7 points), No. 8 Lion Heart (2-0-6, 6 points) and No. 9 Atu’u (1-1-6, 4 points).
Green Bay will have to pile on the goals and hope for losses by Ilaoa & To’omata and the Jets, thereby putting them in a goals differential tiebreaker situation with the Leone-based club.
An Ilaoa & To’omata win or draw, coupled with a Jets loss would secure the fourth playoff spot for the Leone-based team.
As for the Jets, a win or draw would put them in the playoffs should Ilaoa & To’omata lose because at the moment they have a 7-goal lead if it goes down to the goals difference tiebreaker between the two.
The degree of difficulty is high for Ilaoa & To’omata and Tafuna as they take on teams higher than them in the standings. Ilaoa & To’omata takes on Utulei Youth while the Jets face off against Kiwi.
In other matches on September 21 it will be Black Roses vs. Lion Heart and Green Bay vs Atu’u.
