As the Confederation’s premier international club competition, the OFC Champions League brings together the 12 best club sides from the region, with the winner securing qualification to the FIFA Club World Cup.
The draw for the tournament, which will be played in Auckland and Wellington from 9-23 April, will be hosted by NZME personality Mark Watson with representatives from the 2015 champions Auckland City FC also set to attend.
“We are excited to be providing a live stream of the draw, which will allow fans to be part of the event regardless of where they are from,” says OFC Competitions and Events Manager Michael Song.
“The draw for the OFC Champions League is always a highly anticipated event as teams and their fans are eager to see who they will come up against.
“This competition increasingly attracts global interest, due to the quality of the matches and the fact that it is the Confederation’s pathway to the FIFA Club World Cup.”
The tournament format will see the winner of each group and the best runner-up qualify for the semi-finals.
Preceding the official draw for the OFC Champions League will be the draw for the 2016 OFC Champions League Preliminary, which takes place in the Cook Islands from 26-30 January.
The Preliminary will be contested by Kiwi FC of Samoa, Tupapa Maraerenga FC of the Cook Islands, Utulei Youth FC from American Samoa and Veitongo FC from Tonga, the winner earns the final remaining spot in the 2016 OFC Champions League.
Also being conducted on Monday, but not part of the live stream, is the draw for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament OFC Qualifier – Stage 2, a two-leg play-off to identify Oceania’s representative in Rio.
The draw will reveal which nation, New Zealand or Stage 1 winners Papua New Guinea, will host the first leg of the home-and-away play-off.
