The FIFA Goal IV Project will see two wings added to the exisiting building to house a laundry, ablution block and a commercial premises stocking football equipment.
SIFF Normalisation Committee chairman Barnabas Anga says that the signing of the contract is a significant milestone for the project.
“We are pleased to sign this contract with Traverse Construction as this will enable work on this project to commence as we are very keen to see this project get underway,” Anga says.
“We are confident in the abilities and competencies of the contractor and our project manager who will work together to deliver this project to us in a timely manner with sound quality.”
Anga says the renovated academy will help SIFF deliver its mandate and responsibilities more effectively in terms of courses, other education programmes and support the concept of development centres to reach our members and football communities in the respective regions and provinces.
“The academy has not been able to deliver as much as it used to but this project will change and improve this scenario,” Anga explains.
“In that regard, we can now have more trainings and camps hosted at the academy in future, thus serving the federation in the long term.”
As well as confirming Traverse Construction as the preferred construction company for this project, SIFF has also confirmed that Nambawan Architects have been appointed project manager.
The three previous FIFA Goal Projects in Solomon Islands include the upgrade of Lawson Tama Stadium to international standard, the initial construction of the SIFF Academy and work on the Aligego pitch in Malita and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Western Province.
