In addition to the ongoing development of football in the country, PNG Football Association has embarked on a mentoring program for our coaches and our elite players to meet international standard and also improve these coaches on coaching skills and techniques.
Following the C-License which took place late last year in Lae, Mosa in West New Britain was the second province to host the D-License Coaching course, the basics of professional coaching, theory and practical sessions where participants took part in the football drills and learning tactical and technical techniques.
A total of over 40 participants from the surrounding communities around the West New Britain Palm Oil attended the workshop which will enable them to prosper with the with knowledge they have to utilize on our growing kids in the game.
The course is designed to help train local coaches from each member association the requirements needed to advance to C-License.
This course is an introduction course conducted by the OFC’s member association to provide Oceania with the substantial number of coaches required at grassroots level. It is design to develop a basic understanding of safe, ethical coaching to provide local coaches with practical ideas for training sessions for players under the age of 12.
Participants who attend the workshop will be equipped with the knowledge to organize, direct and conduct basic coaching practices
With the establishment of an academy planned in the country and with the help from the Oceania Football Confederation’s vision of developing its technical staffs, our young talented Papua New Guinean players will now be enhanced with the quality skills to be competitive in the international scene.
Those potential coaches after the D-License will be required to undergo C-License. Coaches who are currently coaching at senior community level through presentation skills.
