The four venue general managers appointed by the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Local Organising Committee are on their way to Jordan to witness first-hand the operations at a FIFA World Cup.
Emmanuel Popoitai, Frederica Sakette, Toka Kini-Aua, and Grace Yohang-Mataio will spend seven days at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to gain a better understanding of what will be expected of them when they lead operations at the four venues used for the U-20 tournament.
For Sir John Guise Stadium VGM Toka Kini-Aua, the trip to Jordan will provide a valuable insight for her in how operations at the top level are done.
“It’s an absolute honour and we can only hope that we bring back the learning and ensure that our teams deliver a world class U-20 Women’s World Cup here in PNG,” she said.
PNG Football Stadium VGM Frederica Sakette described her appointment as the icing on the cake in her football career and is looking forward to experiencing two FIFA World Cups.
“I am privileged for the trip that we are taking,” the former PNG women’s coach said.
“We need to learn a lot of things over there, then come back and do the same things here,” she added.
The third woman appointed as a venue general manager, National Football Stadium VGM Grace Yohang-Mataio is also eager to make the most of the opportunity.
“We are there to learn as much as we can, grab that experience and bring it back into PNG so that we are able to deliver a world class tournament,” she said.
The four VGMs will return to Port Moresby next week to apply the new knowledge they have gained from Jordan and implement it in their roles in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2016.
