The former professional goalkeeper worked closely with the federation’s technical department and also sat down with members of the competitions and grassroots development departments to set out a plan for the next four years.
“I am in Samoa to support the federation with its planning on the long-term technical and development plan from 2011 to 2014,” Jacquemet says.
“Samoa has big potential with great facilities and passionate people driving the federation. Now the FFS needs to work to come up with a long-term plan and then put this into action.”
Jacquemet has a wealth of football knowledge to pass on after playing between the sticks for FC Valence in the French second and third divisions.
Before linking up with FIFA and OFC, he also worked for the Football Federation of Tahiti as its technical director and national coach in the elite programme, as well as taking charge of the U-14 and U-17 national men’s teams.
He believes the Samoan federation needs to put most of its efforts into grassroots and youth football.
During his time in Samoa, Jacquemet also got the chance to meet FFS interim chairman Toetu Petana.
“It was a pleasure for me to meet the chairman and FFS staff. I am very happy to see that everyone is very motivated and passionate about developing football in Samoa.”
