The league leaders faced second-placed Tafea on Saturday at PVL Stadium in Port Vila and earned a 2-1 win to open up an unassailable eight-point lead going into the final round this weekend.
In front of over 4000 rowdy fans, captain Fenedy Masauvakalo proved the inspiration, hitting home two second-half goals to give his side a lead that Tafea were unable to claw back.
Masauvakalo notched his pair of strikes in quick succession, in the 50th and 55th minutes, to underline his growing reputation as one of the finest finishers in the Pacific.
Tafea gave themselves a chance of a comeback on the hour mark when Daniel Natou curled a spectacular free kick past Amicale goalkeeper Ernest Bong but could not find the equaliser as the Red Roosters clung on to take the title.
Tafea were forced to play much of the match with only ten men after the first-half dismissal of Nanua Natou and he was joined in the second spell by Amicale defender Young Paul, also shown a red card by referee Robinson Banga.
Amicale president Jean Yves Chabod was delighted to secure another title and is looking forward to the 2012 O-League campaign.
“It has been a difficult league, just like the last one was,” he says. “But we are champions because we deserve to be.”
