The course is being led by FIFA instructor and OFC Women’s Football Development Officer Nicola Demaine, with support from her SIFF counterpart Diane Justus.
An impressive 30 participants registered for the course, which follows up on an earlier course conducted by Demaine in 2012.
The objective is to expand on participants’ previous knowledge and understanding while introducing several new concepts to improve and enhance the ability of coaches to work with female footballers.
The course was officially opened by FIFA Development Officer Oceania Glenn Turner, who challenged attendees to take women’s football in Solomon Islands to the next level.
“I want to offer you participants the challenge of making things happen in women’s football in Solomon Islands,” Turner stated.
“You must learn all you can from this course and apply it with your players and your clubs.”
SIFF CEO Neil Poloso thanked all those attending for their commitment to football and encouraged them to use the opportunity to the best of their ability.
“It is greatly pleasing for SIFF to see the number of women who are willing to attend this course and contribute to developing football,” Poloso enthused.
“I hope that you will make good use of the important opportunity and make a difference in your communities with the training.”
The FIFA Women’s Coaching Course is being held from 23-27 July at the SIFF Academy in Honiara.
