OFC General Secretary Tai Nicholas says Ellis will be responsible for managing OFC’s existing commercial activities as well as identifying, developing and implementing income generation programmes and business partnerships.
“Justin’s extensive experience in sales and marketing, including in different sporting environments, makes him a qualified choice for this position,” Nicholas says.
Ellis has been working in sales, marketing and business development for over 12 years in New Zealand and abroad and is excited about bringing the knowledge he has gained over the course of his career to OFC.
Previous roles have seen Ellis creating and implementing appropriate business strategies for a number of global sporting events working both in-house and as a consultant.
He had a key role in developing the sales and marketing strategy for the 2011 Rugby World Cup New Zealand-based hospitality agent, working with a small team to manage brand representation and meet client objectives.
In his most recent role, Ellis took a one-man operation and built it into a multi-staffed operation with two offices covering the North and South Islands. Other key achievements included a revenue increase in Auckland of 37 per cent in one financial year and the establishment of strong relationships with external stakeholders.
“Football is the global game and Oceania is no different to the rest of the world when it comes to our love of the game,” Ellis says.
“As a region there are different challenges that have to be considered when it comes to developing a business plan, but the commercial opportunities are wide-ranging.
“This role is bound to have some hurdles to overcome and I’m excited by that prospect.”
