Oceania Football Confederation referee fitness instructors and futsal referee technical instructors from across the region gathered in Auckland to participate in two courses last week.

The OFC Elite Seminar and Futuro 111 Course were held at AUT Millennium in Auckland, with a total of 44 officials attending the Elite Seminar and 26 involved in the Futuro course.

OFC Head of Refereeing, Kevin Stoltenkamp said of the Elite Seminar that it was “great to have 24 FIFA Male officials, three FIFA Female Officials and 13 OFC Women Badge Officials attend theory, practical training with players, conduct mandatory FIFA Fitness Test and VAR Introduction Course.”

Stoltenkamp said the Elite Seminar was “an opportunity to provide OFC Elite officials with the latest teaching from the OFC Instructors who had attended the FIFA Master Futuro Course in Spain.”

For the Futuro course, the workshop focused on some of the key areas of refereeing, including changes to the Laws of the Game, positioning, tackles, challenges, penalty area incidents, handballs and offsides.

The topics, discussions and tests were designed to provide OFC match officials with a greater consistency in their interpretation and decision-making.
