Steeve Laigle has been elected as the new President of the Fédération Calédonienne de Football (FCF) following the confederation’s presidential elections over the weekend.
Laigle previously held the position of President between 2016 and 2020 and has been re-elected to take over from Gilles Tavergeux until 2029.
Laigle received nine of the 17 votes to win the election against Marcel Unë (six votes) and former president Tavergeux (two votes).
The voters were the representative delegates of each category represented on the Federal Council, representing New Caledonia’s provincial committees, Super Ligue clubs and three associations – women’s football, refereeing and diverse football (which is made up of beach soccer and futsal).
In all, nine new members were elected to the Federal Council, of whom all will serve a four-year term from 2025 until 2029.
Ruben Hnyikeula Waxuie was elected Second Vice-President, whilst Kai Bertrand, Hnawang André, Simane Bruno, Thelotte Paul, and Weinane Serge were voted in as ordinary members, and Valérie Poigoune was elected as the female member. The role of First Vice-President will be filled at a later date.
