INTEGRITY AND SAFEGUARDING AT OFC TOURNAMENTS
SAFEGUARDING
“Anyone who chooses football, or indeed any sport, is entitled to play and enjoy it in a safe and secure environment that supports her or his wellbeing.” – Gianni Infantino, FIFA President
Oceania Football Confederation is committed to building and sustaining positive, safe, inclusive football environments for everyone, no matter their level of involvement, to enjoy the game across Oceania. In order to achieve this, everyone must play their part to prioritise and implement safeguarding best practices.
What is safeguarding?
Safeguarding in football is proactive actions to ensure people are safe from physical and emotional harm during football activities. This is achieved through prevention and response.
OFC recognises that some members of our football community, such as children, women, and vulnerable adults, may be exposed to higher levels of risk. This is why safeguarding works alongside Child Protection and other protection laws to apply additional preventative measures and efficient response relevant to these population groups.
How can I submit a safeguarding concern?
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone involved in football has a role to play in creating and maintaining safe environments for all. If you see something, say something.
If you have any concerns for someone’s physical or emotion safety, whether it’s for yourself or on behalf of someone else, please click here to report a safeguarding concern.
Alternatively, you can also submit a concern to the OFC Safeguarding and Wellbeing Manager via email at [email protected]. You can also disclose concerns in-person to a trusted OFC staff member.
All reports and disclosures are treated with respect and confidentiality.
How can I learn more about safeguarding?
Anyone can learn more about safeguarding by completing the FIFA Guardians Safeguarding in Football course. This free, online course will help you learn how you can play your part to ensure everyone experiences football free from harm.
