Position Overview 

The Club Development Manager is responsible for supporting and advising OFC Professional League clubs with developing and growing into robust professional entities. This role will focus on business management, commercial growth, fan base development, and overall strategic and operational improvement across the clubs. The role will require both strategic thinking and hands-on mentoring, guiding clubs through the challenges of growth and helping them build long-term, sustainable operations.

Key Responsibilities  

In this exciting and influential role, you will be:

  • Supporting OFC Professional League clubs in developing long-term strategic plans for sustainable growth.
  • Advising on business management, commercial development, and operational improvements.
  • Monitoring club performance and establishing clear metrics for success.
  • Leading or contributing to league-wide development initiatives and education programmes.
  • Providing one-on-one mentoring and coordinating external expert support for clubs.
  • Ensuring alignment with league standards and collaborating with internal departments and external partners.
  • Attending league events to engage with clubs and assess their needs.

Core Competencies

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives.
  • Knowledge of trends in fan engagement, technical development, and commercial growth.
  • Understanding of challenges faced by clubs transitioning from amateur to professional status.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt communication style to diverse audiences and negotiate confidently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach.
  • Strategic thinker with a practical mindset for implementation.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with clubs, staff, and consultants.
  • Builds and nurtures strong internal and external relationships.

Qualifications 

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or a minimum of 5 years equivalent experience.
  • A strong understanding of the Pacific region, with experience working in culturally diverse environments and promoting inclusive practices.

Other Requirements 

  • Fluent in English (French is a plus but not essential).
  • Eligible to work in New Zealand
  • Current passport with the ability to travel within the Oceania region
  • Flexibility around working weekends to attend league events and Circuit Series rounds.
  • Must pass a New Zealand Ministry of Justice criminal check
