HONIARA – OFC O-League Group B Champions KOSSA FC arrived home to a heroic welcome at the Honiara International airport this afternoon following their victory over Ba on Sunday.

A handful of supporters were on hand to welcome the boys and their management at the airport and the team was later paraded through Honiara for their fans to acknowledge there achievements.

Head coach Jacob Moli said his boys had maintained a positive attitude in their last two matches and this contributed to them getting the results.

Team Manager William Lai could not hide his delight and thanked the public for their support in helping Kossa reach the OFC O-League final for the first time ever.

Papua New Guinea international striker Reginald Davani has been praised for his role in Kossa’s win from Moli.

“It was Davani’s goal in the 12th minute against Ba which proved vital for us,” he said. “His goal lifted the spirit of his mates and they never looked back from then on.”

“Davani is a big match player and is very important to our team. With him on the bench in Port Vila (through suspension) it was difficult for Kossa.”

The PNG International did not travel with the team to Honiara as he had already left for Port Moresby on Monday.

He is expected back in Honiara before the DJ Leagues top eight competition later this month.

Moli who represented his country on several occasions as a player also paid homage to the entire KOSSA team for their excellent job.

Moli heaped praise on his defensive unit who he said worked tirelessly in their last two matches and were pivotal in securing a spot in the finals.

Moli said he is aware of what to expect when they face either Auckland City or Waitakere United in the O’ League final.

“We will work on the areas that I feel need tightening up throughout the next three weeks,” Moli said.

The two Auckland teams will play in a do or die match on Wednesday with Waitakere needing only a draw to advance on to the next stage.

Kossa will meet the winner of Group A in a home and away final series to be played on April 26 and May 3.
